This data recovery software utilizes a GUI with novice users in mind. You can undelete data files even after you have cleared the recycle bin.
The software also supports disk to disk image backup or disk cloning; you can export or import a backup disk image so you could backup and restore the system image and data at the same time (in case you do not want to reinstall the operating system and application program). This function also allows you to clone a hard disk drive with an unknown file systems such as MAC or UNIX.
It also allows you to copy data from hard disk or removable data media with bad sectors where a normal Windows copy will not work. When bad sectors are found on the hard disk, the program will search the neighboring sectors to determine the extent of bad blocks and mathematically calculate the number of retries needed to optimize the speed of copying.
You can also edit, repair or restore corrupted boot parameters (either FAT or NTFS boot sector type) to recover your data.
The recovery program is designed to be "green-ware" without any installation. The whole program is less than 100K, and you could stuff it anywhere (such as a floppy disk) and run the recovery program from there to do the necessary data recovery or backup. It is free.
