After careful consideration and consultation with our Magic 8-Ball, we have solemnly concluded that this Internet thing is not going away any time soon.
Lurching ever forward with our commitment to the future of this industry, we aptly introduce a new monthly column to this publication that will, each month, impart information about how those of us in the army/navy biz can take our act online.
Lest this preamble ramble on, you may divert your attention to page 24, upon which rests our new Internet Insights column.
If you've chosen to hang out here a while longer, we can tell you that Internet Insights will be authored by various well-informed web authorities, or by me. We will focus on methods and technologies for building better (and more revenue-generating) web sites and discuss web strategies and best practices.
We will also center our discussions on creating synergistic relationships between brick-and-mortar businesses and their online components.
We strongly believe that the Internet is the 800 lb. gorilla in the industry, and can no longer be simply placated with bananas.
After all, the business model of the army/navy industry is traditionally based on tracking down product and turning it over as quickly as possible, That makes the world wide web an ideal partner for our industry, with the immediacy, mass reach, interactivity and dynamism that cyberspace provides.
