The Abaca Email Protection Gateway provides E-mail protection and messaging security with anti-spam technology SMBs.

The core of Abaca's Email Protection Gateway is ReceiverNet, a proprietary technology that the vendor states works in any language and protects against existing and future spam techniques. ReceiverNet operates on the principle that an E-mail message is more likely to be legitimate if it is sent to recipients that typically receive a low percentage of spam. Conversely, an E-mail message is more likely to be spam when sent to recipients that typically receive a high percentage of spam. ReceiverNet rates messages based on each user's overall ratio of legitimate messages to spam messages. The vendor notes that the technology enables the platform to block 99 percent of spam, as well as viruses and phishing attacks. The product additionally automatically updates its own software and definitions.

Abaca Email Protection Gateway includes a hardware appliance that is installed in front of the customer's E-mail server, as well as Abaca's ReceiverNet Service.

Additional features include:

- Plug-and-play installation (operational 30 minutes)

- Web-based administration console

- Customizable quarantine report for users that can be searched and sorted

- Microsoft Outlook integration–ptional plug-in enabling spam reporting

The EPG 100 supports up to 100 users, while EPG 1000 supports up to 1,000 users.

A virtual version of the product is also available, that can be deployed on any standard x86 desktop or server (including Windows and Linux) and including the ability to run multiple virtual appliances on a single server. The Virtual Email Protection Gateway 1500 supports up to 1,500 users.

The Abaca Email Protection Gateway is available now directly from Abaca, and will be available later this year through channel partners. A 30-day trial is also available.Author: Company Rep
