The AccuFund Accounting Suite offers a series of modules designed specifically for nonprofit and government agencies. Additional modules can be added to customize the software for a specific type of agency.
EASE OF USE/FLEXIBILITY
AccuFund's user interface is easily navigated with a drop-down menu bar for access to various system functions. Beneath is a large tab that lists installed modules. Function icons representing tasks within that module are displayed immediately to the right of the module tab. Placing your cursor on each icon will not display what task it represents, so you'll have to click on each icon until you can identify them. Data-entry screens use "Insert" instead of "Add" or "New" when adding vendors or customers. The "New" button actually creates a new group of items such as when generating repeating AR invoices. Calendars are provided when adding invoice dates, but you must highlight specific dates and then click "okay" rather than double-clicking on the date chosen.
Numerous import options are available for importing information from third-party software products, and an import wizard can assist with choosing the importing format.
MODULES/SCALABILITY
Core modules included in AccuFund include GL, AP, Financial Reporting, Budget Reporting, Cash Receipts, Bank Reconciliation, Forms and Report Generator, and User Security System. Additional modules that can be added to the core system include AR with Inventory and Responsible Party Billing, Payroll With Labor Distribution, Human Resources, Fixed Assets, Purchasing with Inventory, Online Requisitions, Loan Management, and Custodial Checking. This array of modules makes it easier to build and customize the exact system that your business requires.
AccuFund is available in two versions: Standard Edition, which is suitable for smaller nonprofits, and the Professional Edition, which includes Budget Control, ODBC Access, and Department, Account, Financial Report, and Forms and Report Security. AccuFund can be purchased as a stand-alone product, server-based, or as a two- or three-user system. Additional user options can also be purchased. :
FEATURES/FUNCTIONALITY
Version 3.4 of AccuFund contains a complete revision of its standard report writer, as well as the addition of a columnar report writer for increased reporting options.
Account number structure in AccuFund is flexible with the capability to use up to 256 alphanumeric characters and unlimited segments. Automatic due to/from entries keep all of your funds in balance. The custom forms designer lets you create and customize forms and even check stock, which can be used with the MICR check-coding capability found in AccuFund. Cash receipts can be posted to multiple accounts. An excellent System Security module safeguards private information. In the Professional Edition, you can add additional security levels to individual accounts, forms and reports.
Add-on modules are what really give AccuFund its extensive nonprofit capability. The Allocations module lets you allocate revenue and costs to various funds as well as analyze and distribute labor costs. And Requisition Management makes sure that your purchase orders have the required approval prior to being submitted.
REPORTING
As previously noted, the standard report writer function in AccuFund has been completely revised. Revisions include expanded sorting options, a complete field list that can now be displayed when creating a report, the capability to add sub-reports and temporary fields, and the ability to use columnar attributes. The Financial Report Writer has also been updated and now has the capability to produce weekly reports as well as an automatically updated 12-month financial forecast report.
AccuFund can produce reports required for FASB 117 and GASB 34 compliance, and report templates are included for many of the most common financial reports. These templates can also be customized to suit your needs. The Forms and Report Designer allows you to create forms based on your preferences, including fonts, color, boxes, shading and logos. All reports can be printed, saved as *.PDF files, e-mailed, converted to HTML to post on the Internet, or exported to Excel.
SUPPORT/HELP
AccuFund requires the purchase of an annual service contract. Pricing is based on cost of the software purchased. The service contract includes toll-free telephone support, software maintenance and enhancements, and any software updates. Remote services are also available.
Web-based training is offered, and the program comes with a series of tutorials that can assist you with everything from setting up your organization to entering transactions.
RELATIVE VALUE
A single-user Standard accounting system costs $2,995. The Professional system is $6,595. Additional modules vary in price, ranging from $1,000 to $3,495, depending on the version you purchase.
AccuFund is very scalable, allowing you to purchase only the modules that you need. This is an excellent product for nonprofit organizations that expect growth in the coming years.
