Bill Cohen guides a year-by-year trip through the turbulent sixties decade with live folk songs, "news reports" of civil rights protests and anti-war demonstrations, displays of sixties political buttons and anti-war posters, far-out sixties fashions, and a 1960's trivia quiz, complete with prizes. Songs made famous by folks like Bob Dylan, Tom Paxton, Phil Ochs, Joni Mitchell, and P P and M will bring back a flood of bittersweet memories. The setting --- an old church basement bathed in candlelight -- recreates an authentic 1960's coffeehouse. Free refreshments -- teas, hot chocolate, cookies and doughnuts -- will even include an authentic sixties coffeehouse mainstay --- instant coffee! Proceeds from the suggested $10 donation go to the Mid Ohio Food Bank.

Empty Bowls got its start in the early 1990s in Michigan when a high school ceramics teacher challenged students to create bowls as a service project to fight hunger. Since then, thousands of groups across the United States and Canada have organized similar events. Proceeds from this Empty Bowls ecent will go to Food for the Hungry, an annual drive to generate food and funds to help Knox County's most needy citizens. Kenyon's Empty Bowls Dinner will be held from 5:30-7:30 in lower Dempsey, Friday Nov. 6th. Suggested donation for students and children $5, for adults $8. Bowls, made by community members will be auctioned off during the dinner. Directly following the dinner there will be an Oijbwe author reading brought to us by the Kenyon Review. Three Ojibwe authors Kimberley Blaeser, Heid Erdrich, and Gordon Henry will each give a reading followed by a book signing and reception. Louis Erdrich will give the keynote address at the Kenyon Review's Literary Festival the following day (Nov. 7th).
