(NC)—The warm weather has finally arrived. So it's time dust off the barbecue and fire up the grill. Here are some great tips to barbecue successfully this season without burning yourself or the food.

• Preheat the grill for about ten minutes and oil it lightly to avoid food sticking to it.

• Always ensure that food is kept refrigerated until cooking time. You don't want your food to be sunburnt anymore than you want to get sunburnt yourself.

• Don't forget to ask your guests how they like their meat cooked. There is a big difference between rare and well done, and each of your guests and family members will have a preference.

• Use the entire cooking surface of your barbecue. Using the whole grill allows you the convenience of doing all of your cooking in one place. This tip also keeps you from having to heat up your kitchen by using your stove or oven on a hot summer day. In addition to grilling your entrees, your barbecue can also be used to grill fruits and vegetables. Try grilling Metro's finest Red Grill Angus beef with an assortment of seasonal vegetables. You can even use your grill to heat up hors-d'oeuvres or desserts.

• Clean the barbecue after each use with a metallic brush to remove any food particles that may have stuck on during cooking. If you're cooking assorted foods such as meat, fish, and vegetables, cleaning the surface avoids the risk of contamination.

• Ensure a pail of water is kept by the barbecue at all times in case of fire.
