Steps

  1. Start by researching what types of ingredients are in the foods you are buying. If you are allergic to something such as corn, most food products won't say they contain corn. However, they might state that the product contains xanthan gum, which can be found in corn.
  2. Take care to make sure that the product does not have peanuts if you know you are allergic to that food. Start shopping more carefully - being sure to read ingredient labels carefully.
  3. Call the companies about ingredients you aren't sure of. As much as possible, buy fresh foods and/or foods that are not processed. This will cut lessen the probability of consuming ingredients that you might be allergic to.

Tips

  • There are numerous websites and books on this subject. Read as much as possible on this subject.
  • Because there is so much information and so many things to watch out for, don't go with just anything some expert says. Be sure that the expert is correct.

Warnings

  • Watch out for scams about food allergies. Not everybody is allergic to foods - you may only be sensitive to certain things and can tolerate the food in certain doses.
