Address:
300 W. Water Street
Jacksonville, FL
Description:
With its intensely expressive melodies, Mozart's Don Giovanni has been hailed by many as the greatest of all operas. Don Giovanni is based on the true-life escapades of Don Juan of Seville, an aristocratic serial seducer who lived in the 1600's. Is it lust for pleasure or lust for conquest that motivates him, or simply the determination to satisfy whatever impulse he feels at any given moment? We cannot be sure, and because of that we cannot be sure how we ourselves feel about him. For that reason, as well as for the gorgeous music he gets to sing, we succumb to his insidious charm. Experience a full-scale, traditional production with beautiful sets and costumes, sung in Italian with projected english supertitles and live orchestra.

Description:
Experience the historic sounds of the United Kingdom as the music comes alive through the pipes, drums and highland dancers of The Irish Guards and the Royal Regiment of Scotland. The Irish Guards were formed on April 1, 1900 on the wish of HM Queen Victoria to commemorate the bravery of the many Irish Regiments who had fought in the South African campaigns. The Royal Regiment of Scotland came into being in 1881 with the joining of two distinguished Scottish regiments which had been formed during the reign of George III: The 91st Argyllshire Highlanders and the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders. There is a fine tradition in the British Army of bands providing musical support to troops on active service, engendering a unique esprit-de-corps that has been used actively during wartime. Come enjoy an evening of pomp and tradition with the sounds of the United Kingdom! Tuesday, March 23, 7:30PM. Times-Union Center, Moran Theatre, 300 W. Water Street.
