Model Introduction
The Cobalt 252 is attractively styled, trailerable (8 ft. 6 in. wide) single-stern drive bowrider, and is engineered to be an upscale and versatile day boat.

Construction
After the gelcoat is sprayed on the mold, a vinylester-based Zycon barrier coat that's about the same thickness as the gelcoat (22 mil.) goes on the bottom (to protect against blistering) and the sides (to reduce print through). The bottom is a solid-fiberglass laminate, while SprayCore (80 mil.) is used on the sides to further prevent print through. The hull is supported by a network of high-hat hollow stringers that are flanged and bonded to the hull with a high-strength adhesive. The hull's molded and bonded-in-place foam-cored stringer system makes for a neat installation and a clean bilge presentation. Marine-grade plywood bulkheads are tabbed to the hull and the stringers. The single-piece deckliner goes on next, attached to the hull with a shoe-box hull-to-deck joint, with stainless steel self-tapping screws every foot into a strip of pressure-treated plywood. Two more rows of screws follow, securing on the rubrail and stainless insert.

The Cobalt 252 looks like a high-end boat from stem to swimplatform. For example, in the bow, the tow eye is surrounded by a stainless steel chaffing pad and the docking lights, integral to the hull, also have heavy stainless steel flanges for an upscale appearance.
