When looking at homes why not consider a log cabin or log home? These homes are well constructed using natural materials and are easy to clean, decorate and design? These homes come in a variety of colors and woods and can be built on most any lot. There are many services devoted to log cabin homes, such as restoration, log home refinishing, maintenance, and cleaning. There are also well known companies who are building these types of log cabin homes. Each company has contractors that work for them to ensure a quality product.

Each of these log cabin homes has a different design to them. Some of these homes are multi level while some are designed to accommodate only one level. There are many different woods that can be used in building a log cabin home such as Douglas fir, Red Oak, White Pine, and Yellow Pine. Each log home design also includes interior decorating and colors that will suit anyone’s fancy. Maintenance on these types of homes is easy. The logs need cleaning once every two years or by manufacturers instructions. You will also need to seal your home in order for it to be weatherproof.
Another thing about log home building is that these log homes are energy efficient and hold their value well. To design one of your own, you would need to contact a consultant with any log home company and they will sit down with you and help you to design a log home that is suited to your needs and budget. They will also advise you on the maintenance, colors, cleaning, log home refinishing and other topics that you will need to know in order to keep you r log home looking good.

There are many interior design touches such as modern appliances, exotic woods and high end cabinetry that can be put in these homes. The decision about the interior design and colors would be made by both you and a consultant. Each of these log homes can be custom designed, or can follow an already existing design pattern. Each individual company has several types of designs and hard woods that can be prepared for building anywhere that you have a lot available to build one of these log homes. They will also advise you on the maintenance, cleaning and sealing of your log home.

Now, when looking at a log home, you need to know what types of services that you will need for not only the building of the log home, but also the cleaning and maintenance of the log home in question. Some of these services include but are not limited to the following: Cleaning, weatherproofing, restoration, log home refinishing, sealing and painting for example. These services are vital for the health and long life of your log home. A company that deals in restoration will have all the supplies that you would need for restoring your home back to a like new condition.

So what colors can you use on a log home? There are several natural finishes such as Highland Natural, Log Cabin Red, Smokey Mountain Grey and Muskoka Brown for example. This is by no means a complete listing of all the colors available to you when thinking about the outside of a log home. Now on the inside of a log home, the colors can be tailor made to suit you such as accent colors and trim colors. There are many different colors that can be used when talking about the inside of a log home.

Now, we spoke about woods that are used in building a log cabin home earlier, but I would like to touch on that once again. Other woods that can be used in the building of these types of homes includes: white cedar, Cherry, and Michigan Maple. Some of these are also veneer woods that can be used in the building of log cabin homes. So there is an unlimited amount of both woods and veneers that can be used here. This is also dependent upon what company that you are using and what their wood lists are.

When looking for a company that does maintenance on log cabin homes, bear in mind the following: Do they have contractors that can come out and do the maintenance? Do they have a reputable following among their clients? Do they also carry everything that would be needed in the maintenance of a log home? Do they come recommended by your manufacturer or someone in the know? These questions need to be asked in order to protect yourself and your home from unscrupulous companies that will only take you for your money and leave you holding the bag. So by protecting yourself and your investment, you will be one step ahead.

In this article, I have discussed several items that you need to think about when building a log home. I have also discussed many of the benefits that a log home can give you. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me or send me an email.
