Data T3 Jacksonville FL

If you have a website hosting company or other company that needs faster bandwidth than a T1 line provides, you can choose to get a T3 line. The T3 or Digital Signal 3 line is available in multiples to increase bandwidth. T3 lines are available at speeds anywhere from 3 Mbps to 45 Mbps. With a fractional T3, your cost is reduced, but you still have channels that can be turned on if you need to increase your available bandwidth.

2. What Is A Data T3 Line?

When you purchase a DS3 line, you will get a dedicated circuit to the Internet. A local exchange carrier transmits this circuit through both a copper and a fiber optic cable network. A full T3 or DS3 line is the equivalent of having 28 T1 lines operating at full capacity, which is 1.544 Mbps. Additionally, a T3 line can be used by thousands of users at once. This is especially helpful for Internet service providers and large companies.

Since voice and data cannot travel over the same channels at the same time, you can have your T3 line separated for both voice and data, allowing up to 672 telephone lines. When you use a full DS3 line for your Internet connection, you will have up to 45 Mbps of Internet connectivity for uploading information, and another 45 Mbps for downloading information from the Internet.

If your company has outgrown your T1 Internet connection, you have two options. You can add an additional T1 line, thereby increasing your bandwidth. Or, you can upgrade from your T1 line to a T3 line. If you choose to upgrade to the T3 line, you can further upgrade your bandwidth as needed, by having your T3 service provider turn on an additional channel to increase your bandwidth. Since T3 lines are scalable, most companies choose to upgrade from an outgrown T1 line to a T3 line.

3. Uses For Data T3 Lines

Data T3 lines are ideal for a company that provides either website hosting or design, an Internet service provider, a college or university, or a large call center. Each of these types of businesses or educational institutions might need the high bandwidth available from T3 lines. In other cases, you may need the bandwidth from a T3 line if you need to transmit real time, full motion video, for example, the video sent from a web cam like those set overlooking a city street. You may decide that you need the bandwidth from a T3, because you are transmitting large databases over your internal network. If you own a software development company, or another company that has remote users that will be transmitting large amounts of data, you will want a T3 line. Research labs and video conferencing companies or other multimedia companies will also transmit large amounts of data, and may need the bandwidth from a T3 line.
When a large company needs network and Internet access, they may choose to get a T3 line. This would allow them to connect their employees on a network, and allow their employees to remotely access the network if work needs to be done from the employee’s home. In some cases, you can use a T3 line for both telephone lines and an Internet connection.

4. Data T3 Connections

When you get a DS3 line, you will need to pay two separate fees. The first charge is called a port charge. This is for the DS3 line itself. The port charge is the base charge for the DS3 line. Each T3 service provider charges a different amount for the port fee, so you will want to compare the different fees charged by all T3 service providers in your area.

The second charge for a DS3 line is the local loop charge. The local loop charge is the fee that the T3 service provider charges for the connection from your network to the edge of their network. The further you are from your T3 service provider, the larger the local loop charge. Additionally, each T3 service provider has a different local loop charge, so you will want to compare the fees from different T3 service providers to get the best value for your T3 Internet connection.

If you get a fractional T3 line, you will only pay for the channels that are turned off. This means that you can get a higher speed and a larger bandwidth than a T1 line, without paying the full cost of a DS3 line. In some cases, especially if your business is growing quickly, this is a very good way to save money until your business needs the full T3 bandwidth.
