Steps

  1. Open up the MS-Excel file that contains your worksheet.
  2. Go to the sheet where you want the data to be copied.
  3. In the cell where you want to copy the data, enter this formula: = Sheet1!Cell where Sheet1 is the name of the sheet you want to copy the data from and Cell is the cell whose data you want to copy.
  4. Copy the same formula to all the cells below the above cell. This is called 'Relative Reference' where as you paste the formula to each cell, the name of the cell keeps on increasing (eg., from A1 to A2, then A3 etc.)
  5. Save the worksheet. Now, when you enter the data in the main sheet, it will automatically be copied in any other sheet where you have entered this formula.

Tips

  • Read the MS-Excel help files to find out more about Relative References and Absolute References. It will give you a better understanding of what we have done above.
  • You may also want to see what Ranges are.

Warnings

  • Try this in a rough or example worksheet before you apply it in a real worksheet. It will help you get a touch of things.

Things You'll Need

  • MS-Excel (any version)
