Furnaces are devices used for heating. Originally known as kilns, furnaces have a wide use in industrial applications. A custom designed induction furnace can have a heating power ranging from 30W to 120kW, and can be customized to operate, either in standard atmospheric conditions, or in vacuums. Some furnaces incorporate an inbuilt atmosphere control backfill to gauge temperatures as needed.

Electric furnaces use resistance calrods that heat the air directly in the air stream. It incorporates a blower, control cabinet and circuit breakers. Electric furnace manufacturers can sometimes incorporate accessories like an air cleaner, an air filter, humidifier or an air evaporator coil for air conditioning. Electric furnaces require little maintenance and provide years of dependable service. Their simple design enable them to be installed practically anywhere in a business or home. The system requires no vents or pipes and is thus ideal for small rooms or attics where aesthetic beauty is to be maintained. Electric furnaces cost much lower compared to other alternatives. The installation costs are remarkably low due to reduced materials and construction time that is expended during installation. The only limitations in an electric furnace application are the building codes. Electric furnaces are safe since they do not use or emit toxic or combustible gases making them ideal for high-risk environments where use of gases and flames is hazardous. Electric furnaces repair is minimal because it includes routine monthly maintenance of air filter replacement, washing of air cleaner grid and cleaning of the humidifier. Caution should however be observed when doing the humidifier cleaning since they contain deadly high voltages. Thus, one should make sure that before cleaning any part of the furnace, the furnace should be unplugged. In case of control servicing, this should be only be done by a qualified technician.
