A great idea for an unusual decorating theme is game room collectibles or yesteryear figures for your home game room, Not only, that, but have you considered decorating one of guest or reception rooms as a game room, perhaps with a snooker or pool table, and using it for parties and the like? You can have a different kind of 'pool' party here!
How about a cue and pool rack for your cues and pool or snooker balls. There are a range of possibilities here that are neither too small to be properly functional nor too large for the average room. On the other hand, if darts is your game there are some nice fully functional dart board cabinets available, including one with King and Queen playing cards represented on the two doors.
Alternatively, how about a Sharkey's Plate chalk board, useful for darts and any other games needing a chalk board. Any of these would grace a real games room with a snooker or pool table installed, or even just a dartboard or card table. They make great conversation pieces that you add to over a period of time, and there is a selection of figures that would suit the theme such as 3 foot king with a tray, dressed in the form of playing card king. There is also a queen and a joker available.
There are many other game room accents that will add both a touch of class and fun to your games room. There is a CD holder in the form of a set of piano keys, or a selection of no smoking signs. Who is going to smoke with a scowling bulldog staring down at them, tongue lolling out one corner of its mouth and a cigar held in the other; or how about a knotted cigarette that more or less passes on the message!
To furnish your game room there are replica bar stools available with an 8 ball or all four card suits embellishing the seats. Or imagine the talking point that a 2 foot penguin butler would make. A 42 inch pool and billiard showcase, with a cue, sets of balls and other pool and billiard memorabilia will also get people talking, and make a great conversation piece. It's such a lovely piece of furniture that you could put in just about any room for its decorative effect alone. For a room with a games theme, however, it is a fabulous accent that goes perfectly with the cue holders and other decorative pieces.
If a games room is not your thing, there are lots of other forms of memorabilia, especially suitable for a yesteryear theme. Examples are Betty Boop figurines and collectibles. Have Betty riding motorcycles, a car, and even an airplane. Or how about Betty Boop at work as a waitress, a cheerleader or a pop or rock singer. There is a wide range of such collectibles that would grace any room with a mid 20th century theme.
Popeye is also popular, and there are a number of hand crafted Popeye collectibles you can gather together. Imagine Popeye on a variety of motorbikes, and not just Popeye but Bluto and Olive Oyl as well. Popeye and Olive together make a great lamp and Olive is really cute as a waitress.
All of these lovely yesteryear figures are a must for anybody looking for game room collectibles, or decorating a room using themes from yesteryear, and they will not only complement other items from the mid 20th century, but also be suitable as the main theme by themselves, without any further additions. They really are beautiful figures, all hand crafted and would make an excellent gift.
