There are many hairstyles that you can concoct that reflect your personality. Whether you create that style simply by using the hair dryer and a brush or if you add hair accessories to make it sizzle, there are a few basic procedures to follow no matter what hairstyle you are planning on achieving.
  1. Wash your hair. Start by thoroughly shampooing your hair. Rinse out the shampoo and then condition it for several minutes. Rinse that out as well and squeeze your hair to get out the excess water. Pat it dry with a towel and wrap it around your hair to let it dry a little bit.
  2. Add hair care products. Use a product that is appropriate for the style you are going for. For example, if you like curly hair, consider a curl-enhancing mousse. If you like it straight, add a small drop of anti-frizz serum.
  3. Comb your hair. Run a comb through your entire head of hair to get rid of any unwanted tangles.
  4. Part your do. Separate your hair down the middle or off to one side depending on your preference. Use a neat part or create a zigzagged part for a trendy look.
  5. Blow dry your hair. To wear your hair in a straight style, use a large round brush and run it through your hair while running the hair dryer along it. Be careful not to have it on a high setting or you may burn yourself. If you want to wear your hair in tight curls, scrunch your hair vigorously with your hands while drying your hair with the blow dryer several inches away from your hair.
  6. Enhance your straight hair. Choose a flat iron that has ceramic plates and varying heat settings. Plug it in and set to desired temperature. Clip large sections of your hair back, leaving a few thin strands hanging. Place no more than two inches of hair between the flat iron, starting at the root, and run it down your hair. Repeat if necessary until the section of hair is completely straight. Repeat until all sections of your hair are completed. Use a comb, a clean brush, or a pick to brush through your hair. Finish off your style by placing a small drop of anti-frizz serum in your palm and running through your hair.
  7. Enhance your curly hair. If your curly has isn't quite as curly as you'd like, consider use a curling iron. Curling irons come in varying sizes depending on how big or small you want your curls. Once you have an iron, place two inches of hair or less on the curling iron and wrap it around. Change the look of the curl by twisting the iron outward to inward depending on your preference. Want various size curls? Use various size hot curlers. Use small curlers for small, tight curls or large curlers for large, loose curls. Place curlers in your hair, spray to set it and let it sit for approximately 10 minutes. Remove and either brush out your hair or fluff with your fingers for perfect curls.
Styling your hair is a creative process much like a piece of artwork. With just a little effort, you can show the world your true personality.
