Photo caption: Fall bathroom trends span both ends of the décor spectrum: the ultra modern minimalist space and an old-world inspired bathroom experience.

(NC)-"Each season new trends emerge and influence the way we decorate our homes," says Anita Griffin, Canadian marketing brand manager for Hansgrohe. "Trends aren't only about a new look. They also highlight advances in technology and reflect the ways we live our lives."

For those planning to update their homes or who are undergoing a major renovation, here are some of the hot emerging home trends for this season:

The Traditional or Modern Bathroom. Two extremes characterize the current trend in bathroom décor - old-world traditional or ultra-modern minimalism. Bring the romantic, majestic look of yesteryear to the bathroom with elaborate fixtures and accessories that feature the benefits of today's modern technology, such as the Axor Montreux bathroom faucet or a claw foot tub. Alternatively, pick up on the highly modern décor trend in the bathroom by adding pieces with simple details and a polished look. The Axor Citterio M showerhead is the ultimate sleek, European piece for a contemporary bathroom.

Colour in the bedroom. Whether it's on the wall or in the bed linens, bright, saturated colours are key in today's bedrooms. Decorative, intense patterns on bed linens are both visually stimulating and exotic, while bold colours on the wall showcase your dramatic and daring personality. For a unique take on colour, consider a wall tattoo. This new form of art is an easy way to add drama to your space.

Changing Furniture in the Living Room. As the way we use our home evolves, so does our furniture. The hottest trend in furniture design is change: pieces that can disappear when not in use or change their function quickly and easily. Chairs that can be stored in the closet until guests drop by are ideal. Coffee tables that expand and grow are the ultimate in convenience. And items with ample built-in storage help keep your living space neat and clutter-free.

Texture in the Kitchen. This season, the kitchen is about mixing textures, shapes and materials. Consider combining a rounded island with cabinets featuring harder, solid lines. Merge natural wood cabinets that showcase your green lifestyle with the modern flair of stainless steel (energy efficient) appliances. On your table, showcase your eclectic style with mixed patterns and colours in your tableware.
