If your car's fuel tank has been contaminated, then you may need to drain your car's fuel tank. This is important since you will then need to flush it out in order make sure that it is truly clean. While this may sound like a difficult task, you shouldn't stress as it really is as easy to get gas out as it was to get it in there in the first place. In fact, you can do this without straining yourself or even getting your clothes the least bit dirty.

There are a few different ways in which you can go about doing this. You can:
  1. Drive your car around until all of the gas is completely drained out of it. This will require some precision since you will want to make sure that you have enough gas in order to make it back home.
  2. Look underneath the bottom of your gas tank for a special cap that is known as a drain cock. You will want to place something underneath of this before you pull this drain cock and make sure to wear safety glasses so as to not accidentally splash any gas into your eyes.
  3. Loosen the clamp on the rubber hose that is located at the lowest point of your gas tank. You will then want to place something at the other end of this hose to collect the gas as it drains out of your fuel tank. Unfortunately, there are a lot of fuel tanks that do not have any hoses at this point on the outside but instead they are above the tank. Herein there may actually be several different hoses but only one which actually goes to the bottom of your tank. It is important to figure out which one you need to work with.
  4. If you have the type of aforementioned tank, then you can also choose to siphon the gas out. You should never use your mouth to do this though.
Regardless as to which of these methods you choose to use whenever you are draining your fuel tank, you will want to keep a few safety tips in mind. First of all, if you are a smoker, you should never smoke while you are draining your fuel tank. Secondly, make sure that you never ever drill a hole into your fuel tank in order to drain the gas out of it.
