Steps

  1. Buy a pack of index cards and an index card binder (the index card binder comes with index cards but buy some to have for extras)
  2. Take an index card from your index card binder if it comes with it, if yours doesn't come with index cards, take one from the ones you bought.
  3. If yours are from the pack of index cards, take a hole puncher and punch two holes on the top of your index card.
  4. Write your vocabulary word on the side with no lines.
  5. Write the definition of the vocabulary word on the side with lines.
  6. Open your index card binder, open the rings and put your index card in it.
  7. Repeat everything with the rest of your vocabulary words until you finish.

Tips

  • To organize every word's subject, on the first index card you see when you open your binder, take a blank card and draw different colored circles and next to them, label the subject you want with each color, example: Orange-Science, Blue-Math, Red- Social Studies, etc, then on each index card, draw a circle with the color that is for that subject, example: evaporation is a science word so draw a orange circle on the top corner of that index card.
  • If your index cards came already hole punched, you can skip the hole punching part.
  • If you don't know the subject to a word, ask a parent or a person who will most likely know it, or ask a teacher or look it up online.

Warnings

  • Be careful on the internet if you are a child.
  • Make sure you have the proper vocabulary words for your grade so ask the teacher for a list of vocabulary words if you need to.
  • Make sure that the words are appropriate for you grade level and age so always ask about a word or look it up if you don't know what it means because it might not be appropriate for your grade level or it might be hard to understand or it might be useless.

Things You'll Need

  • Index Cards
  • Vocabulary words for your grade level and your teachers requested words.
  • Markers or coloring art items.
  • Index card binder (optional if you want a stack to keep at home)
  • Permanent marker, pen or pencil.
