Tips

  • Bring a pocket English-Arabic dictionary wherever you go in the Middle East.
  • Consider taking some courses or getting a CD-ROM.
  • Remember not every Arabic speaking countries words sound the same. Say if you?re traveling to Egypt - Egyptians have a totally different pronunciation of words than, say people from Dubai. This is not limited to ever other word but more or less their whole way of speaking. Try and do a little research before you go and see if there are actually English to Arabic Dictionaries that pertain to that certain country you're traveling to.
  • Lastly most English to Arabic Dictionaries you pick up at your local book store only do proper Arabic or taught Arabic. Which in most Arab countries is really useless in communicating with the average street merchant or taxi driver. Do your research it will keep you out of trouble in dealing with people that don?t speak English.
  • If you have an mp3 player, you can download some mp3 lessons from this site: http://www.arabicpod.net
  • Through some websites, you can find friendly Arabs there and maybe they can help you learn.
  • To speak Arabic, you have to understand the spirit of culture.

Warnings

  • Some people in the Middle East (especially kids) can't understand foreign pronounced Arabic word so try to make your pronunciation as accurate as you can.
  • Sometimes, people will get angry if they think that there is something wrong. Keep calm and do not go angry yourself.
