One of the big things in online marketing for several years now is viral marketing. Basically, this is where you have a product, articles, eBooks, etc. to give away to your website visitors. Included in these give-aways are links to your website, affiliate programs, eZine sign-up page, and so on. But, viral marketing is getting the people get who get your product to also give it away on their website (with your links in tact). This way you have countless people giving away your links.

To get you started with viral marketing, here are some ideas:

1. There are many viral eBooks on the market. You can buy one that has Branding rights. This means the author of the eBook gives you the right to change all, or most, of his links to your links. Sometimes this is just a link on the front page to your website. Other times this can be links to affiliate programs. The thought is if you are not a member of a particular program that you will join by using their link.

Then let your visitors give away your rebranded eBook to their visitors. Then, some of their visitors will pass it on, too. Some people will tell you that if you give away 500 copies of your eBook, then you have 500 people giving it away for you. The reality is may get 50-100 who will really give it out. But, those 50 people may give away 1000s of copies. That is a lot of people giving your links out through viral marketing.

And, be sure to capture email addresses of those people who download your eBook. They are the nucleus of the viral marketing campaign for your next eBook.

2. This is an idea most people do not use, but can be a great benefit to you. If your web host will let you set up a forum on your website, use this as a viral marketing tool. You should note that most of the free web hosts do not give you this capability. Just another reason to use paid hosting with your own domain.

When you set up your forum, you then allow other webmasters to use your forum for their website. You will just need to set some rules for them to follow. Then, include your own banner ads for affiliate programs, or whatever, at the top of the board. Once again, through viral marketing, others are promoting your links.

3. Can you design an attractive website? If you can, then put together some templates, graphics, etc. put them on a special download page on your website. Don not just let people download them, but give them the right to give them away on their site. Once again, include an ad or just a link to your site at the bottom, such as: created by: your name and link. This can be included in the copyright notice that must be left unchanged as part of the download agreement.

Because people will click on your link, it is viral marketing in action.

4. Write an eBook. It's easier than it sounds. But, that is another article. Then you can let people place their own ad in your free E-book if they give away your eBook to their visitors or eZine subscribers. Another way to get other people to give away your product and link - viral marketing.

5. Write articles about your product or service. This can go along with the previous idea. When you have enough articles, use them to create your eBook. Or, break your eBook down into articles. Then let your visitors reprint these articles on their website, or in their eZine, newsletter, or eBooks. Each article will have a resource box, for the viral marketing effect, inviting people to your website for even more articles.

6. There are 1000s of products on the Internet. Many let you buy a license to redistribute the product free of charge to other people. And, in turn, allow you to pass on these distribution rights. You want the ones that also offer branding rights. Then you include your own name and links to your website.
One cannot underestimate the power of viral marketing as part of your internet marketing strategy. By using viral marketing, you can get your product in front of 1000s of prospective buyers by letting other people do the work for you.
