Forty-one percent of American shoppers now describe themselves as frequent store brand buyers, up from 36% just five years ago. Moreover, nearly one out of three consumers say that they are more likely now than a year ago to buy private label. In fact, the popularity of store brands in supermarkets is having a halo effect on home/office, household, and DIY products. Where do America's retailers and wholesalers go to source for their private label programs? The answer is PLMA's annual private label trade show. With more than 5,000 visitors and 2,000 buyers, it is the largest show of its kind in the U.S. PLMA’s 2008 show will be held Nov. 16-18 at Chicago’s Rosemont Convention Center. On the food side, the show floor includes fresh, frozen and refrigerated foods, snacks, beverages, ethnic specialties and gourmet lines. On the non-food side, the show includes paper, plastics, wraps and foils, all types of kitchen and household products, health and beauty, DIY and GM.

Relay For Life is an overnight event that celebrates cancer survivors while honoring those in the community who lost their battle with cancer. Teams raise funds to fight cancer. The hand-crafted doll house, designed and built by Cortland resident, Lee Newtson, features lighting in each room, a working doorbell and windows, carpeting and wallpaper. The winning ticket will be drawn at the Third Annual Walk4Wisdom / Run4Research Sunday, May 4, at Hopkins Park , DeKalb. All proceeds from the raffle and activities on May 4, benefit Chicago ’s Children’s Memorial Hospital specifically for pediatric brain tumor research.
