IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 4 -- Like recent temperatures, sales continue tobe hot for Kia Motors America (KMA) this summer, which today announcedrecord August sales of 26,874 units for back-to-back months of record salesand a 7-percent increase over the same period last year. KMA remains ontrack toward another annual sales record with year-to-date sales of 207,956units, a 5-percent increase over the same period last year.
"Sales of Kia vehicles continue to be hot this summer," declares LenHunt, executive vice president and COO of Kia Motors America. "July was afantastic month for us with a new sales record in a market that had manysales leaders showing a decline. To back up July with another record monthin August demonstrates that demand for Kia vehicles continues to grow evenin a volatile market."
The Rio and the Sportage also had strong August sales. Rio saw 3,017units sold, while Sportage sold 4,109 units, both increases over the sameperiod last year.
