He will share his plans for the University, including its greater focus on research and the impact that it will have in the creation of a local knowledge economy and work force development.Dr. Dooley, selected from a group of three finalists for the position after a nationwide search which attracted 55 candidates, was recently provost and vice president of academic affairs at Montana State University in Bozeman, Mont.. Earning his undergraduate degree and doctorate in chemistry, Dr. Dooley maintained an active laboratory while serving as provost. In addition to his many honors and accolades, including publishing more than 145 papers, Dr. Dooley was a central figure in attracting research dollars to Montana State, helping to grow that budget from about $30 million to $100 million during his 16-year tenure.
