(NC)-More and more families are purchasing hot tubs and spas as a way to relax and unwind without dealing with the weekend rush to the cottage or spending the money on an expensive holiday away with the kids.
If a hot tub or spa in your home or backyard sounds like the perfect way to spend quality time with your family, take the time to do a little research before you buy. Find out what designs and options are out there and most importantly - think about why you want a spa or hot tub.
Do you want it to be an architectural feature in a complete backyard make-over? If so, think about where you want the spa to be in relation to landscaped areas, gardens, decks and walkways and whether the location is suitable for the spa's plumbing and electrical connection
If relief from chronic pain is your priority, look for a spa with special hydrotherapy jets that focus on special areas of your body. For relaxation, spas with loungers that allow you to stretch out are ideal, while spas designed as an entertainment accessory can be equipped with integral TV screens, CD/DVD players and LED lights.
There are also spas and hot tubs that have built-in wooden countertops and wrap-around wooden decks that allow you to enjoy a meal or a cool refreshing drink while relaxing spa-side or while soaking inside the spa.
Think about what type of spa skirt or cabinet you want. A wooden or composite cabinet that looks like real wood will complement a wooden deck and patio furniture, while cabinets with a faux rock surface are the perfect complement for a stone patio and fence.
Whatever you choose, don't forget to try one out first. Many hot tub dealers have working hot tubs on display in their showroom and encourage consumers to come over and relax in the warm water to discover which one suits them best.
