Before beginning, it is important for a person to know himself: the experiences, background and marketability. Basically, one needs to know what to write and what not to write. Only then will the person be able to come up with a resume in the quickest and most effective ways possible.

STEP 1:

The first 30 minutes consists of pre-production. Although it may seem tedious, once a writer organizes his thoughts and ideas, and knows where to acquire information, then he is all set to go.

STEP 2:

The next 25 minutes include:

  • Encoding (15 minutes). If a person has average typing skills, then this will not be a problem. Leave the formatting for later.
  • Formatting (12 minutes). To make the resume presentable and aesthetically pleasing, add emphases and formatting styles. Have all primary information in bold or italic, change the color and even the font. It is up to the person's taste.

STEP 3:

The final 15 minutes include:

  • Proofreading (8 minutes). With the format and content complete, check the finished work for possible misspelled words, grammatical errors and other mistakes. Correct all errors.
  • Checking for quality (7 minutes). Read the entire resume like an HR representative would do. Check whether it is presentable and convincing enough to land a job interview.
The resume is finished in 90 minutes. The owner can then create a template, save, print and duplicate it so the next time one needs to write another resume, he can just allot time less than 90 minutes. It also allows one to practice the skill with more accuracy, consistency and efficiency.
