Steps

  1. Clean out your garage, your house, or wherever it is you have stored your items.
  2. If you have the room, and one assumes you do since you are 'cleaning', start separating it into groups; e.g. books, magazines, crafts, machinery, software, computers, etc.
  3. Look on-line for various options for recycle (check sources). There are a lot!
  4. Choose to join an online group like freecycle, it is as simple as posting what you have. Most of them are monitored because of spammers, but for most things you will find takers very quickly.
  5. There are a lot of useful things that you can make out of just about anything. Check link below.

Tips

  • Even if it isn't working, it could still have life in it. Don't be afraid to post it in message groups. Especially machinery, there are lots of people who like to fix things or even tear them completely down for parts!

Warnings

  • Be sure that you want to get rid of it. You can get on a 'giving frenzy' and get rid of something and find out that you really DID want to keep it later!
