Removing Crayon Stains from Dryers Sacramento CA

Did you forget to check pockets in a rush to complete the laundry? Crayons melt in the heat of the dryer and then stick to your clothes and the sides of the dryer drum. You cannot ignore these dryer stains and just toss in the next load. Instead you have to remove the crayon from the dryer by following these steps.

1. Scrape the crayon. Use a plastic spatula or hard plastic like a credit card to scrape the crayon wax. If the crayon is thick, then consider running the dryer for a few minutes to warm up the crayons. Then try again. You might not be able to scrape off the thin scrapes but you should be able to get any thick pieces off the dryer.
2. Run the dryer for fifteen minutes. Once you remove the thick pieces, turn the dryer on so that it runs on medium to high heat. This will melt the crayons and make them easier to wipe off in the next steps.
3. Wipe with WD-40 or degreaser. Spray some WD-40 or a degreaser onto a clean, white towel. Then wipe the towel on the crayon stains. Rub lightly to remove the crayons streaks. The heat followed by the degreaser should take care of the crayons streaks on the enamel surface of the dryer. Make sure that you run the towel deep along any creases and the door. Remove the lint trap to make sure no crayon melted and stuck to lint during the dryer cycle.
4. Clean the entire dryer drum. Both WD-40 and commercially available degreaser sprays will leave an oily residue on the dryer walls if left to air dry. Use a second clean cloth with a bucket of hot water and mild dish detergent to clean all the interior surfaces of the dryer.
5. Test with clean white cloth. On occasion, the waxy crayon substance will drip into cracks where you cannot see it. Before you load the dryer with clothes, run a test cycle in the dryer. Place a few clean, white cloths into the dryer and run through a full cycle. If these cloths come out clean, your dryer is ready to use. If not, return to step three.

Don't panic and let crayon marks and spots in your dryer get you down. Instead take a few minutes to clean the dryer following these steps before running your next load. Protect future loads with a clean dryer and check pockets with every load.
