The Annual Conference of the College Art Association is the largest national forum for professionals in the visual arts. Each year, in a different location around the country, artists, art historians, museum directors and curators, educators, and arts administrators convene to present current research, review trends, exchange ideas, and address problems and issues in the profession. The Conference program incorporates over one hundred and fifty sessions, including those sponsored by CAA committees and affiliated societies. Participation in the program as session chairs or speakers is open to all CAA members. In addition to sessions, the Conference program includes a book and trade fair with over 100 exhibitors, a placement service, alumni reunions and meetings of affiliated organizations, and numerous receptions and special events hosted by the local arts community. A highlight of the Conference is the convocation and annual awards ceremony, where individuals are recognized for significant contributions and distinction in art and the history of art. Always evolving, the Annual Conference also includes ARTspace, the "conference-within-a-conference" introduced in 2001 and formerly known as Art's Place, which features, besides many concurrent presentations, demonstrations, and talks of special interest to artists-members, the Annual Artists' Interviews and the Kress Foundation-funded Annual Distinguished Scholar's Session.
