Companies are continuing to cut costs, so any methods you can find for inexpensive and effective marketing and promotion tools are likely to be extra valuable right now. If you have the budget for a multi-channel national advertising campaign it would still be worth your while to implement some of these low cost ideas. You may find that your efforts result in being able to scale down your higher cost program so that you can use your money elsewhere.

For some of these suggestions, the biggest investment you'll have to make is your time, ambition and creativity: * Approach community organizations, libraries or industry-specific events about volunteering your services as a speaker. Your knowledge and expertise should afford you the ability to prepare a speech on a particular topic. * Demonstrate your product to potential customers. Try to form a synergistic partnership with a local business so you can show off your wares. * Take a booth at a flea market, fair, or any event that allows vendors. Not only will you be able to promote your Web store, you will also have an opportunity to make sales. * Donate your product to an organization and you may generate some press from it. However, the giving should be done altruistically and without expectation - if it results in a mention in the local paper, all the better. * Free samples, trial sizes, demos and giveaways create a lasting impression on consumers and could generate sales among those who were previously unaware of your products or services. * Offer your services as a consultant to a non-profit organization or community association.

These ideas may not result in immediate sales but the more chances you have for exposure, the more opportunity for profit.
