Originally published at Internet.comAre you running a user-submitted video site, or thinking of doing so? Sorenson Media, maker of leading compression program Sorenson Squeeze, has added an unlimited encoding license to two of its products, ensuring that your site can process all the videos your viewers upload-or that you can handle serious in-house workloads.
The new license options are available for Sorenson Squeeze Compression Suite and Sorenson Squeeze for Flash. Compression Suite can automatically convert videos into Windows Media, QuickTime, Flash (Sorenson Spark codec), Real, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, 3GPP, PSP and other formats. Squeeze for Flash converts videos into Flash only (either Sorenson Spark or On2 VP6 codecs).
The unlimited licenses will come as a relief for video professionals who were trying to run high-volume operations with Squeeze, but were frustrated by the product's limit of 1,500 encodes per month.
"We have experienced significant demand for scalable Sorenson Squeeze solutions that can effectively handle high volumes of video files daily through watch folders and command line interfaces," said Matt Cupal, president and COO of Sorenson Media. "We are extremely pleased to offer these unlimited licensing options to meet the needs and demand of high-volume user groups."
Squeeze for Flash with an unlimited license costs $1,238 per system annually, while the Squeeze Compression Suite sells for $2,500 per system annually. Neither price includes the On2 Pro Codec, which is available for an additional fee. Volume discounts are available.
