(NC)-Although they have always provided soothing comfort for bathers with sore muscles and joints, hot tubs and spas have now become outdoor entertainment centres as well. CD and DVD players, retractable liquid crystal TV sets and speakers, even Internet access and iPod docking stations are now featured on many spa models - making a soak in the backyard spa even more enjoyable as you watch your favourite movie or listen to the sounds of your favourite CD.
Do you enjoy watching television as you soak your cares and worries away? There are spas and hot tubs available with an LCD television screen built right into them. These large, waterproof screens (some are 1 m/42 in. wide) provide a treat for the eyes when they are elevated and simply retract into the spa cabinet when no longer needed.
Do you want to watch your favourite DVD or listen to your favourite CD while enjoying a relaxing soak? Hot tubs and spas are now equipped with DVD and CD players with pop-up speakers for high-fidelity sound that enhances the soaking experience. You can also enjoy your latest music downloads by placing your iPod in a built-in iPod docking station that will play music through the spa's built-in speakers.
Do you need to stay in touch with office while you soak? Hot tub models are even available with an Internet connection, complete with a waterproof mouse and keyboard.
LED lights are a popular feature to have while entertaining. Built into most spa and hot tub models, LED lights require half the power of traditional halogen or incandescent lights and do a lot more than simply illuminate the spa underwater. These high-tech systems can be synchronized to put on a range of colourful light shows underwater - either a single colour or gradual colour transition for relaxation or a rapid display of many colours for a party atmosphere - it's as easy as pushing a button.
