Originally published at Internet.comiMASS is an artificial intelligence module, unique to the iMASS, that takes over the configuration of many internal subsystems, thereby greatly reducing installation and maintenance. iMASS will:
- Function as an Internet Web server, intranet Web sever, E-Mail server, print server, FTP server, and VPN for employees that work from home.
- Auto discover the network surroundings and auto configure all network parameters.
- Discover the addressing scheme of network segments to which it is connected, auto configure IP addresses, network masks, and default routes.
- Detect misconfigured workstations on the network and not get confused by them.
- Automatically build, configure, and maintain a firewall with parameters auto-configured to prevent intruders from accessing resources on the internal network.
- Automatically detect the internal network and clearly distinguish it from the Internet.
- Auto-configure all DNS parameters and as various services are enabled, appropriate DNS entries are automatically added to DNS tables. As VPN connections are established, all DNS entries are automatically exchanged between all VPN nodes therefore allowing users to get transparent name resolution across all internal VPN networks.
- Provides "smart" DHCP services. The DHCP server will intelligently assign IP addresses not occupied by statically configured workstations on the network. These workstations will be automatically discovered by network discovery routines, and will not have their addresses assigned to other network resources.Author: Company Rep
