The owners wanted a place to escape from the city and enjoy the tranquility of the mountains and stream that meanders through the property. They wanted to bring the outdoors in and enjoy the mountain views.

Site layout was an important part of the project for Goshen Timber Frames in Franklin, N.C., to accommodate the owners' desire to see the mountains from almost every room. The inside walls were pinned to allow the owners to picture the view from each room. The home's location was moved to the right a bit for even better views of the mountains.

A second master suite and home office were incorporated into the second floor. The loft showcases the soaring rooflines and massive beams. Views of the mountains can be seen from the entire second floor.
