  1. Network. Talk to family and friends and see if they, or anyone they know, might be able to help you find an internship in your desired field.

  2. Surf the Web. The Internet is a great source for finding internships and information about various careers. There are tons of helpful sights geared towards students that have internship postings as well as helpful information on how to update résumés and prepare for interviews.

Some good sites to check out include:

MonsterTRAK.com- This site is similar to Monster.com, only it's geared toward college students. There are many great internship and entry-level positions posted here, as well as tips on how to prepare for interviews and update your résumé.

GetThatGig.com- An excellent site that states it will help you get that "cool gig." This site offers a lot of internships and jobs in various fields, including unique and hard to find jobs.

WetFeet.com- Offers international internship opportunities for those who like to travel.

WDWCollegeProgram.com- Provides all the information you need to apply for the Walt Disney College Program. This is a unique paid internship available for students of all majors. Students get to work in one of four theme parks, more than 20 resorts, three water parks, or Disney's dining/entertainment/retail complex.

  3. Take advantage of your school's resources. Talk to a counselor at your school's career center for advice on how and where to look for an internship. Also, go to career fairs held at your school and talk to the attending employers about their internship programs.

  4. Don't be afraid to approach a company. If there's a company you really want to work for, approach them and ask about getting an internship. Even if they don't have an internship program, you can offer to work there for free (most internships are unpaid anyways) for a couple days a week. The main thing is to gain the experience and references that you will need for later on.
