Tokyo, Sept 27, 2007; Jiji Press reported that Toyota Motor Corp. saidWednesday that it will recall the driver-side floor mats used in a total ofsome 55,000 vehicles in the United States.

The recall covers 24,500 units of the 2007 and 2008 models of the Camrysedan and 30,500 units of the 2007 and 2008 models of the Lexus ES350luxury car, the leading Japanese automaker said.

The floor mat, if unsecured, could slip forward and trap the acceleratorpedal, causing the vehicle to accelerate uncontrollably, according toToyota.
