Space is a finite commodity. It is even more precious inside a home, where there is only a limited amount of space available for you to use. That is why you need to make the most of what you have. Use things like multi-functional furniture, space saving utility closets, and hidden drawers and shelves to increase the amount of space available.
Another thing that really saves a lot of space is a thin plasma screen. Plasma screens provide a better picture for a fraction of the space. The technology of televisions has improved so much that the screen has shrunk down to just 4 inches deep. A plasma screen in itself would be a great space saver but imagine if you can mount it on your wall.

Well, you don’t have to imagine anymore. With these simple steps, you can now mount your plasma screen on the wall, all by yourself. If you follow the steps correctly, you won’t have to worry about a broken plasma screen on your floor.

  1. Buy the mount. You can’t mount your plasma on the wall without a wall mount. It just can’t be done professionally without it. Do not even think about building your own wall mount. It is dangerous. The plasma screen can fall flat on the floor and hurt people in your home in the process. Ask a person in the store for help when choosing a wall mount. Once you have your wall mount, get ready to proceed to the next step.
  2. Find the studs. A stud or wall stud is the wood holding the wall board in your house. They are secure and should be strong enough to hold your plasma screen to the wall. Studs can be tricky to find. You can knock on the wall boards or even guess, but the best way to find a wall board is through a stud finder. You can get a stud finder in any hardware store for about $20. Remember to find the center of the stud to have the strongest support.
  3. Measure and mark. It is time to pull your pencil out and get your tape measure ready. Start by finding the center of the stud. Mark the center of the stud. Then, get the measurement of the distance between each screw hole in the mount. Decide where you would like to set up the mount. Trace the same holes on a piece of paper. Place your traced paper where you want the wall mount to be. Mark it with a pencil on the wall as well. Make sure that you have the mark of the mount level by using a level.
  4. Screw the mount. Now that you have the mark on the wall, it is now time to fix it to the wall. Get some really large screws. Try #14X1.5 inch screws. The pilot holes for your large screws should be drilled with a 13/64 inch. Screw in the mount and check again if it is level. Drill a hole in the wall and fish the wires through the wall. Wall mounted plasma screens look best when all the wires are hidden.
  5. Finish up. The wall mount is all set. The next step is to hang your TV on it. You can attach rubber or plastic mounts at the back of the plasma screen. Place the plastic mounts on the wall mount. Just let it settle into place. Check if the TV is firmly in its place. Connect your wiring and check if the TV works fine.
Now you have the plasma screen mounted on your wall. You can look at it and watch a good movie or the latest basketball game. One thing you can’t deny is the fact that each time you look at that plasma screen on the wall, you see a job well done.
